I Love This Song

I have a soft spot in my heart for country music...as long as it doesn't mention a beach or sand, that is. Country music shouldn't have beaches and sand. It should have barns burning down and a lot of angst. Thus, this song is perfect. I have been singing it a lot. And Roman has asked me to quit. So now, instead of Roman listening to me, you can listen to the Zac Brown Band. And no. I am pretty sure "colder weather" is not about drugs. At least, that is what I am going to continue to believe.

ok I have heard the song and like it but I am confused about it...is it really about drugs? about burning barns? it talks about driving away, etc but in the video he is just wandering around...

There seems to be a lot of, artistic licence.

I suppose that anyone could make a video out of what the song is actually about :)

The video means said...

They had a fight. He grabs his gun and heads into the mountain, because when men are frustrated, they'd like to shoot something. While he's gone, a big snow sets in on the mountain and he gets lost.

She heads to the barn to check on the their two horses, Mildred and Cogburn, and the goat, Bessie to be sure they're warm enough.

In desperation, he fires a shot to let her know he's lost in the blizzard. On hearing his shot, she decides to signal him. Not sure what else to do, she torches the barn to give him a beacon to home.

Reunited, they vow to never part on bad terms again.

And he says, "But seriously honey, the whole barn?"

but again....is that really what the song is about:) I like the story though!

That is the story in the video, which is only *very loosely* based on the song.

I also like the song. but I don't think the video has anything to do with the 'story behind the song.'

Here's what the song is about based on the artist(s) who wrote it:

Who knows what the guns or burning barn means! Someone else must have wrote the video.

Noah, I think you missed the part where he's with her ghost again. She must have accidentally burned herself up with the barn. To be with her again soon, unfortunately means suicide. That's where the gun and bullets come in, I'm afraid.

Sorry - I'm not much of a country music fan.

The song talks about ghosts, when he's away from his woman and thinking about her, but not literarl ghosts.

But in the video, they are not ghosts. The snow is still falling in their hair at the end. The song is not about suicide, nor is the video.

It's not about meth either. :)

Wasn't Serious said...

Actually, I wasn't serious about the ghost and suicide. I know he's haunted by a memory; I just thought the video was very dramatic, and my ending added more drama yet. :)
