Dekey Go Co, Super Hero

A conversation with Roman:

R: "Mom, what does Dekey Go Co, Super Hero look like?"

Me: "I don't know. He is a figment of your imagination, he can look however you want him to."

R: "Do we have any movies about dogs that are super heroes?"

Me: "no"

(a little background: Roman named a stuffed dog "Dekey Go Co". No idea way, although I am guessing that the "Dekey" comes from Deacon. The phenomonon of "Dekey Go Co" is growing ever stronger. It is the answer to every joke that Roman makes up and is the name of this imaginary dog super hero. I guess. Or something like that. I can't keep up.)

Next Conversation between Deacon and Roman:

R: "Who is the shortest man in the Bible?"

D: "The apostle Paul?"

R: "No. Peter. Because he slept on his bed".

(FYI: the real joke is "Who is the shortest man in the Bible? Answer: Peter, because he slept on his watch. And the really funny thing is they have both heard that joke over and over, and they still can't get it right)

And one more tidbit:

Does anyone know (without googling it) the name of the family who owned the house where Lee surrendered to Grant?

Just wanted to let you all know that tonight I passed a tv at work and that question stumped the girl on "Who wants to be a millionaire", but I knew the answer!

Lots to say. First of all - I dreamed about you guys all night last night. You were building a bridge in your house (just for looks) and I came over to help (ha!). I brought a DQ ice cream cake. Very bizarre - but it wouldn't be the first bizarre pregnancy dream.

Secondly, you should check out "Superdog - The Heart of a Hero" by Caralyn Buehner. Very cute book the boys would love, though the dogs name is Dexter, not Dekey Go Co.

Thirdly, I think it's hilarious how kids acquire a sense of humor and the ability to tell and understand jokes. Elijah's currently at a stage where he'll say a random sentence and then say, "Get it?" and laugh. Here's a fav of mine - What do you call a dog with no legs? Doesn't matter, he won't come anyway.

And lastly, I have no idea who's house it was.

I thought it was a court house. I can't spell it, but something like Appromatex Court House.

There was that movie "Bolt" about a dog who played a super hero on TV, but he didn't realize it wasn't real. I wonder if Roman saw a preview of that somewhere.

This post made me laugh out loud. :-)

I am with Elise - I was busting:) I thought of something my brother used to say, when he was probably Deacon's size. He used to have an imaginary friend named 'Noah from Anoka Canada'! The Noah was from admiration of your Noah. Canada was likely from our annual Bock/Goedeke trips up north.

I loved the movie Bolt - I have a small white dog and when it got lost I was ridiculously sad.

McLean family. Ironically, the Civil war began in the back yard of this same family!!! Guess who in our family knew this??

Grandma Pam said...

Brad, of course. Now you guess how Julie knew the answer. Going to tell, Julie?

Yes, I had actually heard about how Wilbur McLean had the Civil war start and end at his homes a couple of weeks ago.

It was a historical tidbit on one of the kid's adventures in Oddyssy CDs.

And then in my research discovered that Appotomatox Court House is the name of the town, not referring to the actual court house.

Very interesting.

And I figured Brad would know, being the Civil War buff that he is.

Rachel,
you are free to bring over a DQ cake at anytime.

Elise,
Noah and I saw Bolt but didn't show it to the kids because we thought it was too scary. He did analyze the cover, however, so maybe that is what he was thinking about.

Heidi, I got the Anoka thing :)
