Sermon and cute pics

Yesterday was the 2nd anniversary of the only sermon I've ever had the privilege of preaching. If you care to give it a listen, follow the link.

On to the pics (Rapid City, SD):

Just wanted to let you know that I went for my first run today. It was brutal! Please, please tell me it gets easier! :)

My goal was to run for 30 minutes and just see where I'm at. Well, I was not able to run the whole time but had to run for a couple minutes, walk a few minutes, run, walk, etc. I didn't feel out of breath and actually felt pretty good but the main thing that was killing me were my legs. It was disappointing to get tired so fast.

I guess I really haven't ran since before I had kids. My body was like, "what the heck are you doing to me." I remember there being a time where I really enjoyed running. I think I even started to experience what I've heard called, the "runner's high." And I used to be able to go a lot farther than I even came close to coming today.

You'd think that after all my swimming that I could have done better. But I guess my body isn't used to the high impact workouts yet.

I am determined to keep trying, though. I hope to do it at least a couple times each week and still swim three times a week. I just really hope it gets easier and that I can go farther each time. I read something on the internet about how to start out -- something about walking 6 minutes, running one minute and repeating three times. Then each time the run time gets longer and the walking shorter. By the end of 8 weeks, you're supposed to be able to run for 30-40 minutes, no problem. I hope to get to that point.

I was so frustrated swimming yesterday because I made the mistake of hopping on the scale in the locker room before my swim. I still had not lost any more weight even though I've been working really hard for a long time. I almost put my clothes back on and went home.

I do know I've toned up some and lost inches because my clothes are looser. But my goal is still to lose at least 10 more pounds. Sigh.

Too bad you didn't live closer and could run with me and teach me some tips :) I found some really cool trails in my neighborhood today that would be fun to run on but it looked real secluded and I wouldn't want to run on them alone.

Sorry to leave such a HUGE comment but I didn't see an e-mail address listed for you.

Anyway, guess I'll just keep on trying and hope it gets better. :)
